America in the Bible

Is America Ephraim? Part V

Gideon sent messengers throughout the hill country of Ephraim, saying, “Come down against the Midianites…” ~ Judges 7:24

Gideon is a prophetic prototype of the warrior Messiah, Jesus Christ, at his 2nd Coming. And end-times Ephraim is the USA.

In Judges 7:24, we see Gideon commanding Ephraim to attack Midian. This is a prophecy, the fulfillment of which will be the actual warrior Messiah (Jesus Christ at his 2nd coming), commanding end-times Ephraim (the USA), to attack modern-day Assyria (Turkey/Syria/Iraq) as foretold in the Book of Isaiah. Confused? Read on.

When America was struck on 9/11/2001, America’s leaders did not call upon the nation to repent and return to the Lord. America’s leaders did not acknowledge that 9/11 happened by God’s permission (at a minimum), or by God’s explicit command (at a maximum). God had allowed America to be attacked, and no one asked why. Instead, America’s leaders defiantly asserted that they would rebuild what was destroyed, all without one mention of repentance.

We Will Rebuild

The defiant words spoken by America’s leaders after 9/11 eerily matched a certain verse in the Bible. In fact, it was not just an eerie match. It was a direct quote, and it was spoken by three different U.S. senators on three different occasions. Here is the verse that was quoted:

“The bricks have fallen down, but we will rebuild with dressed stone; the fig trees have been felled, but we will replace them with cedars.” ~ Isaiah 9:10

This verse was quoted by Democrat Senator Tom Daschel, Democrat Senator John Kerry, and Democrat Senator John Edwards.

Dashcle Kerry Edwards

By the way, “separation of church and state” is only enforced against Republicans. Democrats can quote the Bible any time they want, and Leftists have no problem with it. But these Democrats quoted the Bible carelessly, thereby fulfilling the very prophecies they were quoting. Let me explain. Although all three senators quoted Isaiah 9:10, which is about rebuilding what was destroyed, all three senators ignored Isaiah 9:9, which explains the spiritual condition of anyone quoting Isaiah 9:10!

…the people… say with pride and arrogance of heart, “The bricks have fallen down, but we will rebuild with dressed stone; the fig trees have been felled, but we will replace them with cedars.” ~ Isaiah 9:9-10

How could it be that none of these educated men, with all their advisors and speech writers, did not notice the words prior to the ones they quoted? How could they not notice “…the people… say with pride and arrogance of heart…”? By not mentioning these words, the senators fulfilled them. It takes spectacular pride and arrogance of heart to ignore the words “pride and arrogance of heart.”

Furthermore, in quoting the words about rebuilding, the senators fulfilled those words as well. I believe God directed Isaiah’s pen to write those words specifically for these three men to say, and in quoting them, they fulfilled them.

Hello Ephraim, Fancy Meeting You Here

The words of Isaiah 9:9-10 were written about the Northern Kingdom of Israel. With that in mind, I opened the Bible to take another look. Ephraim, which I have been writing about, was in the Northern Kingdom. This Northern Kingdom consisted of the ten northern tribes of Israel, which were taken captive to Assryia in 721 BC. Many members of that captivity never returned to Israel. Much of the Bible after 1 Kings is about the two southern tribes, Judah and Benjamin. So, with my recent interest in Ephraim and the other nine tribes of the Northern Kingdom of Israel, I opened up to Isaiah 9 and starting re-reading. That’s when I saw this:

The Lord has sent a message against Jacob; it will fall on Israel. All the people will know it — Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria— who say with pride and arrogance of heart, “The bricks have fallen down, but we will rebuild with dressed stone; the fig trees have been felled, but we will replace them with cedars.” ~ Isaiah 9:8-10

God’s Game Day Program

My intention was to end the series, Is America Ephraim?, at Part IV. But, as I mentioned in Part IV, I keep finding Biblical references to Ephraim that fascinate me, so the series continues. This is one such reference. Right there, prior to the words Cahn so elegantly linked to America, is the word “Ephraim.” If this is luck, I need to play the lottery. I keep hitting. I keep finding perfect match after perfect match between Ephraim and America. But is it luck, or is it simply that the Bible is the gameday program that God hands to people entering the stadium?

Bills Patriots Program 1962

Unlike man’s programs, which identify only the participants in a contest, God’s program identifies the winner.

We should pay attention, but we don’t. Listen to Christian radio or walk into most Evangelical churches, and you will hear that America is not mentioned in the Bible, and that this does not bode well for America. What nonsense! What poison! What a way to rally the troops! Imagine a military general telling his troops: “There is no way you are going to win the war. But hey, have a great week! See ya next Sunday!” Maybe America is mentioned in the Bible– repeatedly. Would God really develop the strongest nation in the history of the planet, and have this nation recognize the state of Israel minutes after her re-establishment in 1948, and have this nation annihilate evil empire after evil empire, and have this nation be the standard bearer of Christianity throughout the world, and not put it in the Bible?

Surely the Sovereign LORD does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets. ~ Amos 3:7

If God’s responsible for it, it’s in the Bible.

Gideon and Midian

This brings me to the verse with which I started this post, Judges 7:24. How did I get there? Well, I continued reading through Isaiah Chapter 9, and into Chapter 10, and I came to these verses:

Woe to the Assyrian [the Antichrist]… O my people [the Jews] who live in Zion [Jerusalem as the Jewish capital], do not be afraid of the Assyrians [the Antichrist’s military forces], who beat you with a rod… The LORD Almighty will lash them with a whip, as when he struck down Midian at the rock of Oreb… ~ Isaiah 10:5-26

This verse indicates that God will attack the Assyrian’s forces (that is, the Antichrist’s forces, the forces of the revived Islamic Ottoman Turkish Empire, the Caliphate’s forces) as he destroyed “Midian at the rock of Oreb.” So, what happened to Midian at the rock of Oreb?

Then Gideon sent messengers throughout all the mountains of Ephraim, saying, “Come down against the Midianites…”, Then all the men of Ephraim gathered together and… captured two princes of the Midianites, Oreb and Zeeb. They killed Oreb at the rock of Oreb, and Zeeb they killed at the winepress of Zeeb. They pursued Midian… ~ Judges 7:24-25

At the rock of Oreb, Ephraim attacked Midian, and killed two of its princes. Let’s fast-forward to modern times. And let’s apply the modern geographies to this passage of scripture:

  • Assyria = Turkey/Syria/Iraq (revived Islamic Ottoman Empire, the Caliphate)
  • Ephraim = USA

The USA will attack the revived Islamic Ottoman Empire, and kill two of its young leaders, two “princes” of the empire. I believe this will happen as retaliation for Daniel 11:39.

He [the Antichrist] will attack the mightiest fortresses [USA] with the help of a foreign god [Allah]… ~ Daniel 11:39

By the way, Biblical Midian is modern-day Saudi Arabia. The case could be made that all of this will happen in Saudi Arabia. Turkey certainly has designs for Saudi Arabia. But I am not certain that the text goes that far.

Midian is Saudi Arabia

If, in using Isaiah 10:5-26 to interpret Judges 7:24, we use the Midianites as our prophetic template for the end-times Assyrians (Turks/Syrians/Iraqis), then, in the absence of definitive Biblical evidence otherwise, we should also use Midian as our prophetic template for the end-times land of Assyria (Turkey/Syria/Iraq). If you find Biblical evidence showing that we should look for this battle to happen in Saudi Arabia, please feel free to post it in the comments section.

Longsuffering: A Godly Trait

As Islamists continue to attack and kill westerners (Christians and Jews) in shootings, beheadings, rapes, bombings, high-seas piracy, knife attacks, car attacks, etc., the long-suffering nature of westerners will slowly but surely erode away. It is truly remarkable how much we put up with considering how much military might we have. Longsuffering is a Godly character trait, and without God’s touch on the hearts of America, Israel, and other mighty nations being victimized by Islam, we would certainly strike back much sooner.

The LORD is longsuffering and abundant in mercy… ~ Numbers 14:18

But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, persecutions, afflictions… ~ 2 Timothy 3:10-11

As the Lord is longsuffering, so are his people. But the word is longsuffering, not foreversuffering. As God taught us in Ecclesiastes, “to everything there is a season, there is a time… a time of war, and a time of peace.” ~ Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. Peace is in its waning days. I believe that the ultimate fulfillment of Daniel 11:39 will be the Pearl Harbor of World War III. It will be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. It will be an attack so audacious, and born of such hubris, that it will serve as the hooks that God puts into America’s jaws to turn this mighty nation toward the revived Islamic Ottoman Turkish Empire, and to charge at the beast with unstoppable and devastating fury. This attack is how God will “call” for the USA. Pearl Harbor was how God “called” for the USA to enter and win World War II, and a Pearl-Harbor-esque attack is how God will “call” for the USA to enter and win World War III.

Those Two Princes: An Historical Hint

I am endlessly fascinated by the Bible. One of many aspects of this fascination is that God writes into human history prophetic previews of the ultimate fulfillment of prophecies. In other words, he gives us historical hints, types, shadows, and templates that provide real-world previews of what the ultimate fulfillment of a particular prophecy will look like. For example, I believe World War II is an invaluable template revealing much about World War III. I’ve written about that before. As another example, I believe that what Antiochus IV Epiphanes did to Israel over 2,100 years ago is an invaluable template revealing what the Antichrist will do to Israel in the near future. I’ve written about that too. But what about the two princes mentioned earlier in this post?

Then Gideon sent messengers throughout all the mountains of Ephraim, saying, “Come down against the Midianites…”, Then all the men of Ephraim gathered together and… captured two princes of the Midianites, Oreb and Zeeb. They killed Oreb at the rock of Oreb, and Zeeb they killed at the winepress of Zeeb. They pursued Midian… ~ Judges 7:24-25

If the prophetic interpretation I laid out in this post is correct, then this passage of scripture indicates that the USA, while on a military invasion to attack the Ottomans, will kill two princes of the caliphate. What I find fascinating is that recent history gives us a stunning template for this occurrence.

When the U.S. invaded Iraq in 2003, it searched relentlessly for Saddam Hussein and his two sons, Uday and Qusay. You may remember the litany of atrocities that Uday and Qusay were accused of. The U.S. wanted these two princes badly, and the U.S. got them. The deaths of Uday and Qusay Hussein at the hands of the U.S. Army serve as a real-world prophetic template for the ultimate fulfillment of Judges 7:24-25, which will see the U.S. kill another two princes, this time of the revived Ottoman Empire. The God of the Bible is Amazing!

Qusay and Uday Hussein killed

Excerpt from article:

Former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein’s sons, Qusay and Uday Hussein, are killed after a three-hour firefight with U.S. forces in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul. It is widely believed that the two men were even more cruel and ruthless than their notorious father, and their death was celebrated among many Iraqis. Uday and Qusay were 39 and 37 years old, respectively, when they died.
